The three month update.

So it’s been quite a while since we talked last. Now, I’m 33 days away from the nuptual, in NYC, doing my laundry. I took my laptop along for the ride, and in between changing clothes, I thought I’d jot a few notes down for the blog.

I think we’re always hesitant to post when we’re happy or doing fine, because rarely do we feel a need to “get something off our chest” or otherwise start whining into the ether. And while it scares me to write positive thoughts, since last time I did that my life was completely ripped apart, I need to count my blessings.

First things first, I’m getting MARRIED! In case I haven’t bugged you for your snail mail address, you need to email it to my gmail address. randall.bennett[at]gmail[dot]com. Send it right now.

Traci really is the best thing to come into my life ever. While we’re apart it isn’t the funnest time, but by the same token, it’ll make married life that much sweeter. Check out the wedding announcement in case you haven’t yet.

Secondly, the new job and new (old) city are awesome. I’m working at CNET as a video producer. Right now it’s kind of crazy since Rich DeMuro just quit, and he’s 1/3rd of the CNET video team in NY. I’ve been having a blast so far, and I look forward to whomever takes his place and I can’t wait to create some awesome content.

Today was a lazy saturday, which is just the way I like it. Since Traci is in CA finalizing wedding plans, I didn’t go to boston to meetup with her, but instead wasted the whole day playing Skate, Halo3 and Orange Box on my XBOX360.  I did, however, get some cleaning done, which is reassuring. I’ve got to clean my place before my brother Rick comes to visit for Thanksgiving. Apparently one of his in-laws is marching in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade. It’ll be great to see him again.

Finally, if you’re a former Weblogs, Inc. contributor, you better get your butt to NYC for our unofficial WIN reunion. Nov 3rd (next saturday) at the 11th street bar (nameless) between Ave A and B. Be there, or be awful. It’s really your choice.

December 1st 2007: Randall gets married

So, I’ve put off writing about this for a bit for a bunch of reasons, but rather than continue to wait till everything is perfectly timed, I’ll just tell you:

I’m getting married on December 1st in San Diego.

If I haven’t talked to you in a while, give me a call, send me an email, or somehow get a hold of me.  I’ll be spamming all of you shortly asking for addresses so I can send out announcements as the time gets closer.

Yay!

One year later

I rather uncerimoniously marked the one year anniversary of my brother’s death by driving across the country. In fact, on the 31st I was actually in the exact same city, in the exact same place when I heard about my brother’s death. Not literally, because going inside my old apartment probably would have been a little weird, but instead I was at central park for just a moment.

I also went back to see exactly what I wrote one year ago and it’s kind of eerie. Netscape was fun and my brother’s death was not. I think it was so I could have a soft landing rather than a direct, hard out crash.

Some other people who helped me soft land: Check this post from a year ago. Ryan, C.K. and Tom, you don’t know how much it meant to me. Thanks.

Check out a thread on KSL-TV’s website.

Check out some of my original feelings.

Lastly, check out this video I made after the break.

Birthday List

So as a heads up, here’s what I want for my birthday:

By the way, I’ve been updating this post since april, and it was set to autopublish this morning.

Fatblogging

Rather than punish the readers of this blog with my fat blogging minuta, my brother Rick and I have started a fatblog over at http://fat.thebennettbuzz.com/. Our family’s general blog is http://www.thebennettbuzz.com/, in case you’re wondering.

Seizure and movement

So… on Saturday I had a major seizure. We’re talking most major since I was 15. It was the grand maul style, with lots of associated scares for everyone around me. Thanks to that, I decided I need health insurance, and emailed back someone who had previously offered me a job. I’ll likely be taking them up on their offer and be moving back to the east coast soon enough. I’ll be a resident of a Boston suburb.

Crazy times for me, and lots of unanswered questions. What happens to tech check? What happens to the osiris network? (yet to be blogged about) What happens to everyone around me? Still lots to decide, but needless to say i’ll be deciding it here shortly.

Right now, I’m thinking of leaving tech check behind for a while. It’s a turbulent time in my life, and by leaving tech check behind, it would essentially die. While that’s pretty sad, i think saving my own life, and getting treated properly, will be my primary goal. I think Tech Check is a 2009-2010 thing anyway, and maybe i’ll bring it back from the dead then. I’m not exactly sure, but i’ll figure it out.

So, boston, eh? =) Back to my family’s roots.

Brother tribute video

Hey, this is a video I did last year, but now I want to be able to post it to my blog and syndicate it and the like.
