Car lessons learned

I’ve been trying to sell my car for a few weeks, and now i’ve learned a major lesson in car shopping:

Auto auctions are cool, but don’t settle

Going back a year, I bought my car from an auto auction. I had my dealer buy a $9000 car. He couldn’t get any of the ones I wanted, so he bought an Oldsmobile Alero for me. Looking back, the reason why one should be a little more picky is for resale. Who seriously wants to buy an Oldsmobile? Let’s be honest, the car isn’t the most popular, and as a result i had to basically give the thing away. I don’t consider myself a brand whore, but in the car market, you kind of have to be a brand whore, or else you get screwed.

Fast forward to today, and it cost me $1200 less than my loan to sell the stupid thing. Yeah, be careful car shoppers.
